Question 1

How to store Koala Kare Horizontal Mount Stainless Baby Changing for maximum shelf life?

Accepted Answer

This Koala Kare changing station isn't a consumable product, so the concept of 'shelf life' for maximum freshness doesn't apply. For the Koala Kare KB310SSRE, proper storage before installation means keeping it in its original packaging, in a dry, indoor environment with stable temperatures. This prevents any potential damage to the stainless steel finish or internal mechanisms before the unit is permanently installed in your facility, ensuring it remains in optimal condition.

Question 2

Is Koala Kare Horizontal Mount Stainless Baby Changing compatible with standard commercial machines?

Accepted Answer

The Koala Kare KB310SSRE baby changing station isn't designed for compatibility with 'standard commercial machines' in the way a food ingredient interacts with a kitchen appliance. It's a permanent fixture for public washrooms. Its compatibility lies in its design for recess mounting into typical stud wall construction, assuming proper structural backing and support are present. Installation requires adherence to local building codes and standard tools, rather than integration with operational equipment.

Question 3

What materials is Koala Kare Horizontal Mount Stainless Baby Changing made of?

Accepted Answer

The Koala Kare KB310SSRE Horizontal Mount Stainless Baby Changing Station is primarily constructed with a durable, satin-finish stainless steel exterior, which provides its robust strength and contemporary aesthetic. The changing bed surface, which directly contacts the infant, is typically made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE). This combination of materials ensures the unit is highly resistant to wear, easy to clean, and provides a safe, comfortable surface for infants in demanding commercial environments.

Question 4

How to maintain Koala Kare Horizontal Mount Stainless Baby Changing for long-term use?

Accepted Answer

To ensure long-term use for your Koala Kare KB310SSRE changing station, regular cleaning and routine inspections are essential. Clean the stainless steel and HDPE surfaces daily with a mild, non-abrasive cleanser and a soft cloth to sanitize and remove grime. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that can scratch the finish. Conduct monthly inspections of the restraint straps, hinges, and all mounting hardware to confirm they are secure and show no signs of wear, replacing any damaged components promptly to maintain full operational safety.

Question 5

What are the dimensions and weight specifications for the Koala Kare KB310SSRE changing station?

Accepted Answer

The Koala Kare KB310SSRE recess-mounted changing station, when closed, typically measures approximately 37.5 inches wide by 23.25 inches high and has a depth of about 4 inches from the wall surface. When opened, its projection extends to roughly 20.5 inches. The unit itself weighs around 55 pounds, requiring adequate structural support within the wall cavity for secure installation. These dimensions ensure it fits within standard commercial washroom layouts while providing ample space for infant care.

Question 6

What is the expected lifespan of the Koala Kare KB310SSRE under typical commercial use?

Accepted Answer

Under typical commercial use in high-traffic facilities such as restaurants, malls, or public institutions, the Koala Kare KB310SSRE changing station is built for extensive durability. With its robust stainless steel exterior and HDPE bed, it is engineered to withstand daily operation for many years, often exceeding a decade with proper maintenance. Regular cleaning and periodic inspection of moving parts and restraints are key to maximizing its operational lifespan and ensuring continued safety.

Question 7

What is the recommended cleaning and maintenance procedure for the Koala Kare KB310SSRE?

Accepted Answer

Maintaining the Koala Kare KB310SSRE involves regular cleaning and routine inspections. For daily cleaning, wipe down all surfaces, especially the HDPE bed and stainless steel exterior, with a mild, non-abrasive commercial cleaner and a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could scratch the finish. Periodically, inspect the safety straps, hinges, and mounting hardware for any signs of wear, damage, or looseness. Tighten or replace components as needed to ensure the station remains fully operational and safe for all users.

Question 8

Does the Koala Kare KB310SSRE meet Canadian accessibility standards for public washrooms?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the Koala Kare KB310SSRE is designed to meet applicable safety and accessibility standards, including the ASTM F2285 Infant Changing Station Safety Standard. When installed correctly according to manufacturer guidelines and local building codes, including proper height and clearance, it can contribute to compliance with Canadian accessibility requirements like those often referenced from the National Building Code of Canada and provincial standards for barrier-free access in public facilities. Always consult local regulations for specific installation mandates.

Question 9

What type of wall preparation is required for installing a recess-mounted changing station like the KB310SSRE?

Accepted Answer

Installing the Koala Kare KB310SSRE, a recess-mounted unit, requires specific wall preparation. You'll need to create a precisely sized cutout in the wall to accommodate the unit's recessed body, ensuring there are adequate structural blocking and support within the wall cavity. This blocking, typically 2x6 lumber, provides a secure anchor point for the mounting hardware, which is crucial for the station's stability and weight-bearing capacity in a commercial setting. Professional installation is highly recommended to ensure compliance and safety.

Question 10

How much weight can the Koala Kare KB310SSRE safely support?

Accepted Answer

The Koala Kare KB310SSRE is engineered to safely support a significant amount of weight, designed for commercial use. While specific load capacities can vary slightly, most Koala Kare units, including the KB310SSRE, are tested to safely support children up to 50 pounds (22.7 kg) when installed correctly into adequate structural wall blocking. The robust stainless steel and HDPE construction, combined with secure mounting, ensures reliability and safety for infants and toddlers in public facilities.

Question 11

Why choose a stainless steel changing station over a plastic one for a commercial facility?

Accepted Answer

Choosing a stainless steel changing station like the Koala Kare KB310SSRE offers several advantages over plastic units for commercial facilities. Stainless steel provides superior durability and resistance to vandalism, making it ideal for high-traffic public washrooms. It also presents a more upscale aesthetic, complementing modern washroom designs, and is inherently non-porous, which simplifies cleaning and sanitation efforts. While often a higher initial investment, the long-term benefits in terms of longevity, appearance, and reduced maintenance often make it a more cost-effective choice.
