Question 1

How to store Koala Kare Horizontal Baby Changing Station / for maximum shelf life?

Accepted Answer

This unit isn't a perishable item with a "shelf life" in the traditional sense; it's a piece of durable equipment. For optimal pre-installation storage, keep the Koala Kare KB200-SS-05 in its original packaging in a dry, climate-controlled area to prevent any moisture damage to the hardware or potential scuffing of the surfaces. Avoid extreme temperatures or direct sunlight which could affect the material finishes over extended periods. Once installed, its "shelf life" becomes its service life, which is extended through regular cleaning and proper maintenance.

Question 2

Is Koala Kare Horizontal Baby Changing Station / compatible with standard commercial machines?

Accepted Answer

The Koala Kare horizontal baby changing station is a standalone wall-mounted fixture, not an item compatible with "commercial machines" in the way food service equipment might be. It integrates into a public restroom environment, specifically designed to be mounted onto a sturdy wall structure. Its compatibility is with the building's infrastructure, requiring appropriate wall support for secure installation. You'd typically find it alongside other standard commercial restroom fixtures like hand dryers, soap dispensers, and paper towel units.

Question 3

Is Koala Kare Horizontal Baby Changing Station / safe for use in commercial dishwashers?

Accepted Answer

No, the Koala Kare KB200-SS-05 baby changing station is absolutely not safe for use in commercial dishwashers. This is a large, wall-mounted fixture, not a portable item designed for submersion or high-temperature wash cycles. Cleaning should be done in place using appropriate cleaning solutions as recommended by the manufacturer. Attempting to machine-wash such a unit would cause severe damage to its structural integrity, materials, and safety features, rendering it unusable and unsafe.

Question 4

What materials is Koala Kare Horizontal Baby Changing Station / made of?

Accepted Answer

The Koala Kare KB200-SS-05 horizontal baby changing station is constructed with a durable combination of materials. It features a stainless steel veneer panel, which provides both strength and a clean, modern aesthetic. The main changing surface is described as "White Granite," which typically refers to a durable solid surface material or a high-pressure laminate designed to mimic the look and feel of granite. This combination ensures a robust, easy-to-clean, and long-lasting unit suitable for commercial environments.

Question 5

How to maintain Koala Kare Horizontal Baby Changing Station / for long-term use?

Accepted Answer

For long-term use of the Koala Kare KB200-SS-05, consistent cleaning and periodic inspection are key. Clean the white granite surface and stainless steel veneer regularly with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner and a soft cloth to prevent buildup and maintain hygiene. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive pads that can damage the finish. Inspect the mounting hardware, safety straps, and hinges annually to ensure they are secure and functioning correctly, replacing any worn components as needed. Proper maintenance ensures continued operational safety and extends the unit's service life.

Question 6

What are the dimensions and weight specifications of the Koala Kare KB200-SS-05?

Accepted Answer

While specific detailed dimensions (height, width, depth when open/closed) are not provided in the product description, the Koala Kare KB200-SS-05 is a horizontal baby changing station designed for wall mounting. It has a significant weight capacity, supporting up to 50 lbs, indicating a robust build. For precise installation planning, I would always refer to the detailed specification sheet or installation guide provided by Koala Kare, which outlines exact measurements and mounting requirements. These specifications are critical for ensuring proper placement and compliance with accessibility standards in Canadian facilities.

Question 7

How long does this Koala Kare changing station last under typical commercial use?

Accepted Answer

The Koala Kare KB200-SS-05 horizontal changing station is built for durability in high-traffic commercial environments, meaning it's designed for years of reliable service. Its construction with a stainless steel veneer and a white granite solid surface material makes it resistant to wear, impact, and frequent cleaning. With proper installation, regular cleaning using non-abrasive agents, and periodic checks of the mounting hardware and safety straps, these units can easily last well over a decade, often exceeding fifteen years, depending on the specific traffic volume and maintenance regime of your establishment.

Question 8

What is the recommended cleaning and maintenance procedure for the Koala Kare KB200-SS-05?

Accepted Answer

Cleaning the Koala Kare KB200-SS-05 involves using a mild, non-abrasive cleaning solution and a soft cloth or sponge on both the white granite surface and the stainless steel veneer. Always wipe down the unit after each use in high-traffic areas to maintain hygiene, following your facility's sanitation protocols. For maintenance, regularly inspect the safety straps for wear or damage and ensure the mounting hardware remains secure; loose fasteners should be tightened immediately. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive scrubbers, or steam cleaners, as these can degrade the material finishes and affect the unit's longevity and appearance.

Question 9

Does the Koala Kare KB200-SS-05 meet safety standards for Canadian public facilities?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the Koala Kare KB200-SS-05 horizontal changing station is designed to meet rigorous safety requirements essential for public facilities, including those in Canada. The product explicitly states compliance with ASTM static load performance requirements, which are critical for ensuring the structural integrity and safety of the unit under specified loads. This certification confirms that the changing station can reliably support infants up to its 50 lb capacity without compromising safety. Professional operators in Canada can be confident in its adherence to recognized safety benchmarks.

Question 10

What are the key benefits of the stainless steel veneer and white granite finish on this unit?

Accepted Answer

The combination of a stainless steel veneer panel and white granite solid surface on the Koala Kare KB200-SS-05 offers several operational benefits. The stainless steel provides exceptional durability, corrosion resistance, and a modern, professional appearance that integrates well into various commercial decors. The white granite surface, likely a composite material, is non-porous and resistant to stains and bacteria, making it highly hygienic and easy to clean. This material choice ensures the unit withstands frequent use and maintains a clean, presentable look over its service life, reducing maintenance labour.

Question 11

Can the Koala Kare KB200-SS-05 be installed by a general maintenance crew, or does it require specialists?

Accepted Answer

The Koala Kare KB200-SS-05 comes complete with mounting instructions and all necessary hardware, making installation feasible for a competent general maintenance crew with experience in commercial fixture mounting. The key is ensuring proper anchorage to a structurally sound wall, often involving locating studs or using appropriate commercial-grade anchors for plaster or drywall applications. While a specialist isn't strictly required, attention to detail and adherence to the manufacturer's instructions are paramount to ensure the unit's safety and stability, especially given its 50 lb capacity and public use context.
