What is Gatorade liquid concentrate?

Gatorade liquid concentrate is the foodservice version of Gatorade sold to sports teams, gyms, arenas, mines, construction sites and event organizers. One 1 gallon jug of concentrate mixes at 5:1 with water to make about 6 gallons (23 litres) of finished Gatorade, filling a standard 5 gallon cooler with room to spare. It is sold in Fruit Punch, Orange, Lemon-Lime and Grape, individually, in cases of 4, in a variety case, and by the pallet of 48 cases.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers for Canadian buyers
How much Gatorade does one gallon of concentrate make?

Gatorade liquid concentrate is mixed 1 to 5: one gallon (3.78 L) of concentrate plus five gallons of cold water makes six gallons (22.7 L) of finished Gatorade. That is about 64 servings of 12 oz or 32 servings of 24 oz per jug. A case of four jugs makes 24 gallons, or roughly 256 twelve-ounce servings. The concentrate is the same formula as bottled Gatorade Thirst Quencher and is available in lemon-lime, orange, fruit punch and glacier freeze.

Is Gatorade concentrate cheaper than bottled Gatorade?

Per serving, concentrate mixed on site costs a fraction of single-serve bottles, because a 12 oz serving uses only 2 oz of concentrate and the customer supplies the water, cup and ice. Sports facilities, camps and cafeterias typically see a 70 to 85 percent gross margin on fountain or cooler Gatorade compared with 25 to 40 percent on bottles, and the concentrate case takes a fraction of the storage space of 256 bottles. The trade-off is the labour to mix, a cooler or dispenser to serve from, and a 3 to 7 day life on the mixed product.

How long does Gatorade concentrate keep?

Unopened Gatorade concentrate keeps 12 to 24 months at room temperature; the best-before date is printed on the jug. Once opened, cap the jug and refrigerate it, then use it within 30 days. Mixed Gatorade in a clean, covered cooler or dispenser keeps 3 to 7 days refrigerated at 4 C or below, and up to 24 hours at room temperature during an event. Rinse and sanitize coolers between batches, since sugar residue grows mould quickly.

Why is Gatorade concentrate hard to find in Canada?

Gatorade liquid concentrate is a foodservice-only product in Canada, sold through PepsiCo foodservice and broadline distributors that require a delivery account and, in many regions, a minimum weekly order. It is not stocked in grocery or club stores, and supply to Canada has been intermittent since 2023 as PepsiCo prioritized bottled formats. Chicken Pieces imports and stocks the one-gallon jugs by the case and sells them to any team, school, camp or business without a distributor account.
