Every cone style a scoop shop or soft-serve counter needs

ChickenPieces.com stocks JOY Cone and other commercial cone brands in the case sizes that dairy bars and concession stands use: flat-bottom cake cups, pointed sugar cones, large waffle cones, waffle bowls and mini cones for sampling.

Cones are packed in protective sleeves inside a full case, ship from Calgary and pair with our Frostline and Dole soft serve mixes and Lynch toppings in the Concession Supplies category.

Each listing states cone size, cones per case and whether the cone is kosher, so operators can match a cone to their dispenser and menu.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers for Canadian buyers
What is the difference between a cake cone, a sugar cone and a waffle cone?

A cake cone is a light, crisp, flat-bottomed cone made from a wafer batter, low in sugar, and it stands upright on a counter. A sugar cone is a rolled, pointed cone baked from a sugar and molasses batter, sturdier and sweeter than a cake cone. A waffle cone is a large, hand-rolled or machine-rolled cone made from a thick waffle batter, with the most flavour and the highest cost. Cake cones hold about 3 to 4 oz of soft serve, sugar cones 4 to 5 oz of hard ice cream, and waffle cones 6 to 8 oz.

Which cone works best with a soft serve machine?

Flat-bottom cake cones are the standard for soft serve because the machine dispenses straight down and the cone must stand on the dispensing tray. JOY #30 and #40 cake cones are the two most common soft serve sizes in Canadian dairy bars; the #40 is taller and holds a larger swirl. Pointed sugar and waffle cones work for soft serve only with a holder, and their open tips can leak. For hard-scooped ice cream, sugar and waffle cones are preferred because they resist soaking. Chicken Pieces stocks JOY #30, #40 and jacketed cake cones in full cases.

How many JOY cones come in a case?

JOY cone case counts depend on the cone number. Cake cones: #10 mini 720 per case, #22 720, #30 750 (25 sleeves of 30), #40 600 (30 sleeves of 20), #60 484 and #80 320. Sugar cones: #310 pointed sugar 800 per case and #415 jacketed sugar 800 per case. Waffle cones: item 6216 is 216 per case and 7192 is 192 per case. Gluten-free cake and sugar cones are 96 per case, and Kids cones are 1,260 per case. Case counts appear in every product title on Chicken Pieces so cost per cone can be compared directly.

What does jacketed mean on a JOY cone?

A jacketed cone is wrapped in a printed paper sleeve, or jacket, that covers the lower half of the cone. The jacket gives the customer a clean grip, catches drips, keeps the cone from being touched by staff during service and adds a branded look at the window. JOY #415 is the jacketed sugar cone, and jacketed cake cones are also available. Jacketed cones cost more per unit than plain cones but are the norm at high-volume concession stands and fairs where speed of service and hygiene matter.

How long do ice cream cones stay fresh, and how should they be stored?

Unopened cases of cones keep 9 to 12 months when stored in a dry stockroom between 10 and 25 C. Once a sleeve is opened, cones stay crisp for 2 to 3 weeks if resealed in a bag or airtight bin. Humidity is the enemy: cones stored near a walk-in door, a steam table or a dish pit go soft within days. Never store cones in a freezer or refrigerator, because condensation softens them when they come out. Rotate sleeves first in, first out and keep the case sealed until needed.
