Question 1

How much is a shot in a clear plastic cup?

Accepted Answer

A standard shot in the food service industry is generally considered to be 1.5 ounces (44 ml), though this can vary by establishment and liquor board regulations. This specific CP Clear Plastic Tiny Upscale Shot Glass is designed to hold 2 ounces (approximately 59 ml), providing a slightly larger portion ideal for tasting samples, mini cocktails, or layered desserts. The extra capacity allows for garnishes or a more substantial serving, offering flexibility in your beverage and appetizer presentations. Always confirm local liquor regulations for serving sizes if dispensing spirits.

Question 2

How long does clear plastic last?

Accepted Answer

The durability of clear plastic, specifically polystyrene like this CP shot glass, is designed for single-event use under typical commercial conditions. These disposable shot glasses are robust enough to withstand handling during an event, resisting minor impacts better than traditional glass. While they are built to last through service, their intended lifecycle is for one-time application before disposal to ensure hygiene and operational efficiency. Prolonged exposure to high heat or abrasive cleaning is not recommended as it can compromise the material's integrity and clarity.

Question 3

How much does a clear plastic cup weigh?

Accepted Answer

The CP Clear Plastic Tiny Upscale Shot Glass, made from lightweight polystyrene, weighs only a few grams per unit. While an exact per-unit weight isn't specified, their minimal weight is a key operational benefit, especially when handling large volumes. This low weight reduces the burden on catering staff, simplifies transport of bulk quantities, and helps to minimize waste disposal weight after an event. You'll find a pack of 20 to be very light, making them easy to distribute rapidly during setup.

Question 4

Why is clear plastic more expensive?

Accepted Answer

The premise that clear plastic is inherently more expensive is not always accurate; its cost depends heavily on material, design complexity, and volume. For this CP Clear Plastic Tiny Upscale Shot Glass, the clear polystyrene offers a cost-effective alternative to actual glassware by eliminating washing, handling, and breakage costs. The clarity in this particular design is a functional choice for presenting appetizers or beverages, allowing for visible layers and colours, which adds perceived value to the served item without the high price tag of glass or premium acrylic.

Question 5

What is clear plastic made of?

Accepted Answer

The CP Clear Plastic Tiny Upscale Shot Glass is specifically manufactured from polystyrene. Polystyrene is a thermoplastic polymer known for its clarity, rigidity, and lightweight properties, making it a common choice for disposable food service items. This material ensures that the shot glasses maintain their shape during use and present contents clearly, which is critical for showcasing vibrant drinks or layered desserts. It's a widely used plastic in the Canadian food service industry for single-use applications due to its reliable performance and cost efficiency.

Question 6

How to store CP Clear Plastic Tiny Upscale Shot Glass for maximum shelf life?

Accepted Answer

To maximize the shelf life and preserve the quality of your CP Clear Plastic Tiny Upscale Shot Glasses, store them in their original packaging in a cool, dry, and dark environment. Avoid direct sunlight or extreme temperature fluctuations, as prolonged exposure can potentially affect the plastic's clarity and integrity over time. Keeping them boxed and sealed prevents dust accumulation, ensuring they are ready for immediate use upon opening, which is crucial for hygiene in food service operations.

Question 7

Is CP Clear Plastic Tiny Upscale Shot Glass compatible with standard commercial machines?

Accepted Answer

The CP Clear Plastic Tiny Upscale Shot Glass is a single-use, disposable item and is not designed for compatibility with commercial dishwashers, beverage dispensers, or other industrial cleaning or serving machines. Its primary function is for manual filling and service, offering an efficient cleanup process by simply disposing of them after use. If you are looking for reusable options that can integrate with commercial washing equipment, you would need to consider heavier-duty acrylic or polycarbonate glassware available from ChickenPieces.com.
